Donate to The One Fund at any store and we’ll match it.

Events

Like the rest of New England, all of us at Eastern Mountain Sports were stunned and saddened by the bombings at the Boston Marathon. As I wrote last week, Boston Never Backs Down and now that bombers have been brought to justice, it’s time to focus on helping the victims and their families.

Established by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino, The One Fund raised over $10 million in a single week to support the people most affected by this tragic event. At Eastern Mountain Sports, we want to see that number continue to grow and thanks to our partners, we’ve pledged to match up to $12,500 all donations we collect for The One Fund in all of our 68 retail stores from Maine to Virginia.

If you’d like to contribute, you can make your donation at the cash register of the store nearest you. From there, we’ll increase the value of your donation in two ways. First, if you’re an EMS Rewards member, we’ll add 10 points to your balance for every dollar you donate. Second, as soon as customer donations total $12,500, we’ll match those donations with an additional $12,500 and then send a single check to The One Fund. If you don’t live near one of our stores but would still like to contribute to The One Fund, please CLICK HERE to donate online or send a check to:

Thanks.

Jim's love for the outdoors began with family camping trips in "Brady Bunch" style canvas tents and progressed to backpacking adventures with the Boy Scouts. In 2007, he fulfilled his teenage dream by joining Eastern Mountain Sports as Brand Communications Manager. When he's not in the office, you'll find Jim kayaking, hiking, and mountain biking around the Monadnock Region and throughout New England with his wife Brenda and his dog Brewski.
