A look inside our new Danbury, CT store

If you live in southern Connecticut or you plan to be in the area April 26 – 27, please consider this your official invitation to the grand opening of our newest store, Eastern Mountain Sports Danbury with awesome deals and hourly prize giveaways all-weekend long.

After 19 years in the mall, Cory Watson and her team have moved into an awesome new location that’s nearly twice the size of the old space. Located in the Shops at Marcus Dairy across from Whole Foods, this 13,336 square foot store is packed with the latest outdoor gear and apparel from the brands you love. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s waiting for you in Danbury, CT.

kayaks and SUP

Our tour begins in the  paddling department where you’ll find all kinds of options to help you forget about last winter and the arctic April we’ve been tolerating to this point. Our kayak selection includes sit-on-top kayaks starting at just $269 to sea kayaks designed to take you wherever you want to go. Of all the new paddling arrivals in the Danbury store, the early favorite is the Wilderness Systems Aspire 100. This $699 kayak is packed with features you don’t usually find in boats under $800 including an incredibly comfortable, adjustable seat system, a drop-skeg for better stability in rough waters, and a locking bulkhead in the stern.

Sleeping Bags

Moving on to camping, as you can see in the photo above, the Danbury store has an awesome collection of sleeping bags and pads to help you rest easy after a big day in the backcountry. Side sleepers the award-winning Nemo Nocturne with an innovative spoon shape that’s wide in the shoulders and legs so your knees have room to bend and your legs have room to shift during the night. You’ll also find a huge selection of camping tents for everything from bike touring and backpacking to road trips and car camping expeditions with friends.

Camping and hiking go together like peanut butter and jelly and at the Danbury store you’ll find daypacks and hydration packs for done-in-a-day adventures alongside workhorse hiking backpacks for multi-day trips.

Ladies ApparelLadies who love the outdoors will love our collection of durable, yet fashionable apparel that stands up to the elements without compromising style. Our biggest story of the summer hiking season is the all new Trail Head Zip-Off Pant. Water repellent and quick-drying with SPF 30+ sun protection, these do-anything convertible pants will enable you to change with the weather and hit your favorite apres sport restaurant without stopping.

Most guys who walk into our stores head straight for the latest outdoor gear and I can’t say I blame them. Our camping section is like an outdoor hardware store packed with awesome tools and irresistible toys. That said, even the most clothes-averse guy will love the men’s outdoor apparel section and the huge variety of performance apparel that wicks sweat, repels precipitation and warms the core so you can do the outdoor sports you love in any weather.

I could keep going but the best way to appreciate this awesome new store is to see it for yourself, whether you can make it to the grand opening this weekend or not. Be sure to like Eastern Mountain Sports Danbury on Facebook and let us know what town we should come next!
