A night in NYC with Conrad Anker and Tim Kemple
Whether you’re into mountaineering, rock climbing, or adventure photography; or if you just like meeting cool, inspiring people you’re going to want to mark Friday, October 28th in your calendar. Mountaineering legend Conrad Anker and professional photographer Tim Kemple will be appearing at Hostelling International in New York City for an evening of awe-inspiring images and mind-boggling stories from both sides of the camera lens.
Conrad Anker is a mountaineering legend whose exploits have been documented by just about every major outdoor magazine and web site over the years. Sponsored by The North Face, Conrad is famous for climbing the most technically challenging terrain in the world but he is largely known for being the man to discover the body of George Mallory near the summit of Mt. Everest. Mallory and his partner Sandy Irvine had been missing since 1924. A captivating speaker, Conrad will share highlights of his mountaineering experiences in Alaska, the Himalayas, Antarctica and beyond as well as his thoughts on gear and the items he never leaves home without.
Tim Kemple has been the official Eastern Mountain Sports photographer for the past seven years and has also shot for The North Face. A contributing photographer for Urban Climber and Climbing Magazines, Tim combination of skill, strength and creative talent have made him a respected name in both the climbing community and the photography business. Tim has travelled the world where he has climbed the same hard routes and endured the same harsh conditions as the professional athletes he shoots. On this evening, Tim will offer tips on everything from finding the right shooting angle to keeping your batteries from freezing in subzero temperatures.
Meeting two people of Conrad and Tim’s caliber in one place is a rare opportunity so if you’re in the New York City area on Friday, October 28th, make plans to be at Hostelling International at 103rd and Amsterdam.
