Customer Spotlight: Give a Bike Tour Rolls On
Back in February, our customer service department received a particularly compelling email.
Hello EMS,
We are 1200 miles into our journey and our old EMS tent isn’t holding up to the rigors of our adventure. My wife and I are biking through all 50 states for charity… we will be the first to complete this adventure unsupported. We love our EMS tent but it has been many places and been used for many years. Our tent has stood up to the challenge of a motorcycle tour in Africa, trekking in south east asia, hiking trips of over 40 days, but now in its fifth year of life on a 50 state bike tour… it is throwing in the towel and telling us it is ready for retirement. We need a new tent.
Please check out our website and blog for some amazing images and stories of the journeys of our EMS tent. www.giveabike.blogspot.com and www.giveabike.com we also have a facebook page with 1500 followers.
Thanks for considering helping us out with a new tent.
Sincerely,
–
Adam & Christy Coppola
At Eastern Mountain Sports, we stand behind everything we sell but we no longer make the Star 2 tent Adam and Christy had been using and they clearly didn’t have the time to wait for a repair. We arranged for them to pick up one of our brand new, lightweight Velocity 2 tents that the good people at Backpacker Magazine had some very nice things to say about.
From there, I’m embarrassed to admit that I went on to forget all about Adam and Christy – not a terribly smart move on my part but we really did treat this as a customer service issue instead of a marketing opportunity. Had I dug a little deeper into the incredible journey and fantastic cause these two were in the middle of, I’d have made a few extra arrangements to meet up with them during their east coast swing. Unfortunately, they’re already gone and the second half of their 50 state ride is in high gear. As of June 15, Adam and Christy have ridden over 6,500 miles and raised over $18,000 in support of their mission of “Spreading Health and Happiness through the gift of a bike.”
Here are a few of the gorgeous photos you’ll find at the Give a Bike Blog.
Adam is obviously a seriously talented photographer/videographer and we really appreciate him sharing his latest video with us which you will find here on the Give a Bike Facebook page.
I hope you’re as inspired by Adam and Christy’s story as I am. Whether you’re into cycling or not, their blog is an absolute blast to follow – provided you can contain your jealousy. On behalf of everyone at Eastern Mountain Sports, I’d like to wish Adam and Christy good weather and continued success on their epic journey.
