Great Prizes From Ruffwear Up For Grabs In Our “Dogs On The Go” Photo Contest!
While Eastern Mountain Sports customers come from all walks of life and enjoy different outdoor sports, the vast majority of them share one unifying personality trait: an unabashed love for dogs. Photos of dogs hiking, kayaking and trotting alongside their mountain biking people are always crowd pleasers on our Facebook page and the most popular post in the history of our blog was the controversial story about Missy, the german shepherd who was abandoned by her owner at the top of a mountain when  another member of the hiking party was injured.
I had a feeling that a dog-themed photo contest would be popular, but the response to our Dogs On The Go Photo Contest powered by our friends at Ruffwear Performance Dog Gear has been off the charts. We received 188 entries in the first 24 hours of the contest and the deadline isn’t until midnight on Friday, March 15. Hikers, campers, climbers, and paddlers love their dogs every bit as much as they love the outdoors and I’m happy to share some of my personal favorite photos in the hopes of inspiring more people to enter.
As the proud owner of an English Springer Spaniel who shares the same addiction to snowballs that Matthew from Bellingham describes about his dog Ruby, this photo sums up my morning and evening routine.
My puppy kindergarten instructor always said “a tired dog is a happy dog.” As Sara from Northborough can attest, a tired WET dog is an even happier dog.
Pup on a SUP
I can’t get my dog to sit still for five seconds so you can imagine how impressed I am by Milton from Storrs and his well trained dog enjoying one of the fastest growing sports here in the northeast.
Lucy in the Snow
Sharon from Collegeville uploaded this awesome photo of her dog. One of the best things about having a dog is that no matter how much snow has fallen or how hard it’s raining, you always have someone who’s willing to play outside with you.
Zaza in South Africa
You’ve probably figured out I’m a sucker for happy dogs. I’m also a sucker for happy stories of adoption and in this entry, Steven from Nelspruit tells us he got Zaza from a rescue center.
Which brings me to my favorite part about this photo contest. After our Facebook community chooses the top fifty photos by popular vote, three experts from the Monadnock Humane Society will choose the five finalists. These five winners will get some great gear from Ruffwear. Look for some more photos in the days ahead as well as  some helpful advice about dog safety, trail etiquette and training tips from the dedicated staff of MHS coming soon!
